Welcome to a site that offers free Battlestar Galactica fan fiction novels based on the original 1978 television series. You may wonder how this site is different from so many other Galactica fan fiction sites out there. The difference is that most of these stories were originally published in a Galactica fanzine by Clean Slate Press (which stopped publishing in the late 90s). Galactica stories from the fanzine era were much better, in my opinion, because there were fewer of them, and the fact that they were published meant that much greater effort was put into the writing and editing. Compare this to the internet where anyone can easily post a story online, and I'm sure you can appreciate the difference in quality.
Rather than offer a large number of stories, I've decided to only post a select few that I think are among the best out there. Most of these stories were originally posted on a Galactica site of mine called Sheba's Galaxy (and they're still there), but I am no longer updating that site. I also did not present those stories in their best form. I posted them in gold letters over a black background (not the most comfortable for the eyes!) and the converted files had numerous grammatical errors that were never corrected. I have now carefully gone over the stories and eliminated most if not all of the spelling errors. Also, I realize that most people don't like to read novels online, so I have decided to make each story downloadable in an epub file which can be viewed on most ereaders. They can also be viewed on a computer using free software such as Calibre, Adobe Digital Editions or something similar.
For most of them, I have only posted the first chapter of each story on this site rather than the entire novel. The reason I have not posted most of the novels in their entirety is because it would require reformatting all of them, and I simply don't have time to reformat nine novels. Besides, the epub file versions look great, and they're the best way to view the stories. (Plus you can save them and have them forever!)
I highly recommend all these stories (they wouldn't be here otherwise), but if you aren't sure where to start, I would recommend The Race For Earth which gives a satisfying ending to the Battlestar Galactica saga that the original series never did. If you love alternate universe stories, you'll never find a better one than Alternate Conspiracy. If you're a fan of Commander Cain, then you've got to read The Pegasus Chronicles which introduce us to a whole new cast of characters just as compelling as the originals we know and love. In case you don't feel like reading a novel, I've also included some great short stories that were originally published in the Clean Slate Press zine called Galactica.
For any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me as [email protected]. I would love to hear what you think about these stories! Also, I am looking to acquire Galactica fanzines, so if you have any you would like to sell (or perhaps just send me some scans of!), please let me know. Click here to learn about stories and zines I'm looking for. Also, if Sharon Monroe (the publisher of Clean Slate Press) is out there, please contact me as well. Happy reading!
Novels
The Race For Earth by Sharon Monroe and Gordon Smuder
After ten years in space and a change in command, the Galactica has found the way to Earth, in an ancient derelict ship. But Baltar has caught up with the fleet, and takes a hostage Apollo may not be able to resist. While young warriors prepare for baptism of fire, veterans wearily regroup, returning to a battle they'd hoped they left behind. 103 pages.
Alternate Conspiracy by Sharon Monroe
Alien technology strands Starbuck and Apollo in an alternate universe where they discover the Colonies again about to sign an armistice with the Cylons. They must do whatever it takes to keep their worlds from repeating their deadliest mistake -- even if it means Apollo must marry a woman who despises him, and Starbuck must accept the death penalty for treason.
The Battle of Molecay by Lee Gaul and Sharon Monroe
The first book of the Pegasus Chronicles. The Fifth Fleet is assigned to save Molecay from possible Cylon attack. But Baltar's treachery already manifests itself in sabotage, murder, and an enemy ambush. Commander Cain may be the best tactician in the fleet, and Electra and Orestes the best pilots, but is even this good enough to survive the Cylons and discover the traitor among them? 140 pages.
Cain's Command by Lee Gaul and Sharon Monroe
The second book of the Pegasus Chronicles. A collection of short stories detailing the adventures of the Pegasus after leaving the Colonial fleet. How the battlestar survived Gamoray; Cain's mission for his people; their adjustment to the news that the Colonies have been destroyed; what happened to the Delphians; encounters with survivors and old friends like Baltar, Alliance Enforcers, and Iblis. 134 pages.
Second Coming by Lee Gaul and Sharon Monroe
The third book of the Pegasus Chronicles. Illness strikes the Pegasus, and Cain himself may die. Aliens trail the Galactica fleet, and the battlestars must reunite to survive. Tigh and Kleopatra fight for command; Sheba and Apollo have to redefine their relationship; and Starbuck has to make a decision on his own about Athena and Cassiopeia. Then time runs out, and the aliens move in for the attack. 166 pages.
Joint Maneuvers by Lee Gaul and Sharon Monroe
The fourth book of the Pegasus Chronicles. Baltar is free, and plotting against his old enemies. Starbuck and Apollo survive his ambush, and escape to the Pegasus. But alien influence lingers; old friendships are stretched to the breaking point, and even discovering a brother he never knew can't ease the pain for Starbuck. But Cain won't be convinced to rejoin the fleet. Fighting alone, caught between the aliens, the warriors fall, one by one... 128 pages.
Galactica History: From Kobol To The Colonies by Sharon Monroe
From the days of Eden on Caprica, to Babelonia and Caprica City on the Colonies; from Lord Adam of the Migration to Lord Zakaryah of the Devastation; from death on Kobol, through the Void, to settlement in hope on Twelve Worlds; to the fall of the Lords and hope in the flames of civil war. A collection of short stories set in the early days of the Colonies. This is the heritage, glory, and the pain of our warriors -- and the why of much they do. 106 pages.
Survive The Alliance by Sharon Monroe and J.D. Rich
"V" and "Battlestar Galactica" with appearances from "A-Team," "Airwolf," "Knight Rider," and others. The Galactica finally discovers Earth, but the Visitors have gotten there first.
